Bill Kramer — Academy Museum of Motion Pictures
Director and President
THE LATEST:
Kramer took over as director and president of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures just three months before the start of pandemic-related lockdowns, which delayed the museum’s opening. The museum completed its $388 million capital campaign goal in November, and its opening is now set for Sept. 30. A series of virtual events leading up to the opening began in April, and the museum will have an opening gala on Sept. 25 chaired by Jason Blum, Ava DuVernay and Ryan Murphy.
BACKGROUND:
Kramer oversees all aspects of the museum’s management, including staffing, design, curation, fundraising and creative direction. He spent the previous five years serving as the project’s managing director of development and external affairs, raising $250 million to move the project into construction and managing its public approvals and planning. Previously, Kramer worked in various senior management and fundraising roles for the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Southern California Institute of Architecture, California Institute of the Arts, Sundance Institute, Columbia University School of the Arts and Rhode Island School of Design.
