James Cuno — J. Paul Getty Trust

THE LATEST:
In April 2020, the Getty Trust launched a $10 million Covid-19 relief fund for art museums and organizations throughout Los Angeles. In September, following last summer’s social unrest, the Getty Foundation joined 15 other donors in committing $156 million to Black, Latino, Asian and Indigenous arts organizations. And in February, the trust initiated a $38.5 million Los Angeles Arts Recovery Fund.
BACKGROUND:
Cuno has led the Getty Trust since 2011. Previously, he served as president and director of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has worked as a director at the Courtauld Institute of Art at the University of London, the Harvard University Art Museums and Dartmouth College’s Hood Museum of Art. Cuno has taught art history and architecture at Harvard and Vassar College. The J. Paul Getty Trust, founded in 1953, operates the Getty Conservation Institute, the Getty Foundation, the J. Paul Getty Museum and Getty Research Institute.
