THE LATEST:
Grief kept up his usual busy schedule throughout the pandemic. Notable deals he executed include the cross-border sale of Costa Mesa-based Takeya USA Corp. to Japan-based Takeya Chemical Industry Co. Ltd.; the $53 million growth capital financing for Newport Beach-based Lugano Diamonds & Jewelry Inc.; and a growth capital raise for Concord-based BlendJet Inc. with senior debt financing provided by Pasadena-based East West Bank. His Greif Foundation also donated $100,000 in April 2020 to Jewish Family Services, the oldest charity in Los Angeles, as part of its emergency campaign to feed the hungry and homeless during the early days of Covid-19.
BACKGROUND:
Greif founded investment bank Greif & Co. in 1992 after 10 years as vice chairman of Sutro & Co. Inc. &emdash; at the time the oldest investment banking firm in the West. Prior to Sutro, Greif was a management consultant with Touche Ross & Co., part of what became Deloitte Consulting. He endowed the Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at USC’s Marshall School of Business in 1997. Greif sits on the boards for the California Chamber of Commerce and the USC Marshall School of Business.
