Jeff Bernards — Bernards Bros. Inc.
Chief Executive
THE LATEST:
San Fernando-based construction contractor Bernards is expected to finish work later this year on the $335 million Behavioral Health Center at Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital in Willowbrook. Closer to downtown, the company has wrapped up work on a 232-bed housing project on Vignes Street for the homeless. Bernards is also close to completion on a project to modernize four buildings and construct a mini-gym on the campus of Palm Springs High School. And in October, the company won the 2020 National Award of Excellence in Healthcare Facilities from the Design-Build Institute of America for its recently completed work on a new patient tower at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia.
BACKGROUND:
Bernards specializes in large-scale projects such as the Rose Bowl renovation; theme parks such as Legoland, Disneyland and Universal Studios; and facilities on the campuses of USC and Claremont McKenna College. The company was co-founded in 1974 by brothers Doug, Greg and Jeff Bernards. Jeff Bernards, the youngest brother, recently took over the post of chief executive from his brother Doug, who retired and now serves as executive chairman. Jeff Bernards had been president of the company, and before that, its chief operating officer.
