Geoffrey Garrett — USC
Dean, Marshall School of Business
THE LATEST:
Garrett became the 18th dean of the USC Marshall School of Business in July. He was formally installed in the post at the beginning of the academic year in September. One of Garrett’s first actions was to approve two new courses for last fall’s curriculum: one on the future of leadership and the other on the future of capitalism. In March, U.S. News and World Report ranked the Marshall School No. 16 on its list of full-time graduate schools for business, up one spot from last year.
BACKGROUND:
Garrett took the helm at the Marshall School after serving six years as dean of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He also taught there as a professor of business administration, communication, international relations and law from 2001 to 2005. A native of Australia, Garrett is a Fulbright Scholar who has taught at Oxford, Yale and Stanford universities. He was founding chief executive of the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney. He also led the Pacific Council on International Policy in Los Angeles and was dean of the UCLA International Institute.
