David Lippman — TCW Group Inc.
Chief Executive
THE LATEST:
TCW Group Inc. had $248 billion in assets under management in March, making it one of the largest firms of its kind in Los Angeles. In February, TCW Group appointed Liz Kraninger as chief operating officer, joining Lippman in the C-suite after a 14-year tenure at bond giant PIMCO. In November, TCW entered into a partnership with investment bank Jefferies Group and credit manager Kennedy Lewis Investment Management to issue new collateralized loan obligations, or CLOs. Jefferies and Kennedy Lewis will provide up to $160 million in equity investment to TCW’s CLO platform.
BACKGROUND:
TCW Group’s clients include corporate and public pension plans, endowments and foundations, financial advisers and institutions and wealthy individuals. Before joining TCW in 2009, Lippman was CEO of Metropolitan West Asset Management, where he led strategy and operations and served on the credit committee and the structured products committee. His career includes positions at Credit Suisse First Boston in New York, Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette and Drexel Burnham Lambert. Lippman graduated from Drew University and earned his law degree from Hofstra University.
