Gary Winnick — Winnick & Co.

THE LATEST:
Winnick & Co. has been active in acquiring wireless spectrum licenses globally. As of early April 2021, Winnick & Co. was working to close a $2 billion second round of financing, which is currently oversubscribed. These efforts solidify Winnick’s efforts to build and enhance global communications infrastructure. The first round was entirely financed through the Winnick Family and Winnick & Co. Winnick ranked No. 39 on the Business Journal’s 2020 list of Wealthiest Angelenos with an estimated net worth of $1.9 billion.
BACKGROUND:
Winnick founded Winnick & Co. in 1985. The company works with entrepreneurs and early stage businesses in industires such as sports, digital media, technology, financial services, health care and real estate. In 2002, Winnick made $734 million from the sale of stock in Global Crossing, a telecommunications company he founded. He started his career at Drexel Burnham Lambert. Winnick sits on the boards of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the Museum of Modern Art. He also chairs the Winnick Family Foundation.
