John Mazziotta — UCLA Health Sciences, UCLA Health
Vice Chancellor, UCLA Health Sciences; Chief Executive, UCLA Health
THE LATEST:
UCLA Health hospitals in Westwood and Santa Monica were ranked No. 1 in California and No. 4 nationally last year by U.S. News & World Report. The hospitals moved up two slots in the national ranking. UCLA Health also received a substantial influx of funds in recent months. In February, philanthropist Allen Ginsburg and his wife, Charlotte, donated $29 million to create a center for precision genetic medicine. In December, UCLA Health received a $7.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to build a state-of-the-art facility within its Center for Health Sciences for gene and cell therapies.
BACKGROUND:
Mazziotta, who assumed his current posts in 2015, has been a member of UCLA’s faculty for more than 36 years, serving as dean of the medical school, associate vice chancellor of UCLA Health Sciences, chairman of the neurology department and executive vice dean. During his time, UCLA Health has won several honors, including 30 consecutive appearances on U.S. News’ list of top hospitals.
