Stephanie Hsieh — Biocom
Executive Director, L.A. Office
THE LATEST:
Former biotech executive Hsieh was appointed in September to head the new Los Angeles office of Biocom, a San Diego-based bioscience industry resource and statewide advocacy organization. Her mission: to advocate for policies to grow the L.A. life sciences industry, to pull in more investment and grant funding, and to match local bioscience companies with investors and other funding sources.
BACKGROUND:
Biocom was founded in 1995 to give a public voice to research institutions and bioscience companies throughout California with the aim of helping its member companies develop therapeutics and products to improve human health. The organization now has 1,300 member companies and organizations. Prior to joining Biocom, Hsieh was chief executive of Meditope Biosciences, an early stage biotechnology company based in Pasadena. Previously, she held several senior management roles at local bioscience companies. Hsieh began her career as a patent litigator, where she represented a wide range of clients, from Fortune 50 companies and major academic institutions to biotech startups.
