Debra Wong Yang — Gibson Dunn & Crutcher
Partner
THE LATEST:
Following the murder of six Asian women in an Atlanta salon, Yang has been active in combating anti-Asian hate. She helped gather signatures and drafted a letter signed by a group of more than 120 former U.S. attorneys condemning acts of hate against Asian Americans and calling on the Justice Department to work with state and local law enforcement to address it.
BACKGROUND:
Yang works crisis representation, litigation, regulatory, compliance and white-collar defense cases, and advises companies on public filings issues. She is the former U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, and the first Asian American woman to serve as a U.S. Attorney. She helped the board of Johnson & Johnson respond to shareholder complaints over talcum powder. Yang launched Gibson Dunn & Crutcher’s information technology and data privacy practice group. She also prosecuted one of the first computer hacking cases as an assistant U.S. attorney.
