THE LATEST: Matthai is a trial lawyer with more than 30 years of experience, specializing in the representation of attorneys in malpractice actions. She is defending a fellow attorney in a case brought against the attorney and his firm by families whose relatives died in the 2018 Lion Air plane crash. The families allege they received a low settlement from aerospace giant Boeing without their permission.
BACKGROUND: Matthai has experience in representative matters including complex business transactions and litigation, probate and complex family law proceedings, securities litigation, intellectual property litigation, entertainment-related disputes, and bankruptcy proceedings. Since 2013, she has served on American Business Bank’s board. Matthai is the board treasurer for the Institute for Democracy and Justice. She was formerly a member of the American Bar Association Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary. She obtained a BA from UC Santa Barbara and a JD from UC Hastings College of Law.
