THE LATEST: Kieffer was retained by a major construction management firm to successfully settle a contract dispute with Los Angeles World Airports worth $1.3 billion. In 2019 and 2021, he was named Lawyer of Year for Los Angeles for Administrative and Regulatory Law by Best Lawyers. Kieffer has been on the Best Lawyers in America list from 2018-2021.
BACKGROUND: Kieffer is principal co-author of the Los Angeles City Charter and has been with Manatt Phelps & Phillips since 1973. He advises clients and public officials on the L.A. charter and administrative code as well as government contracts, procurement and public policy issues. He is chairman of the Los Angeles Civic Alliance and was previously chairman of the University of California Board of Regents and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
