THE LATEST: Gilford was included on the Business Journal’s Minority Leaders of Influence list in 2021 and was recognized by the Daily Journal as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in California. She is currently defending Honda in multidistrict litigation following the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s announcement of an expanded investigation into airbags made by manufacturing company ZF-TRW.
BACKGROUND: Gilford specializes in crisis litigation. Before joining Sidley Austin in 2019, she served as lead class-action counsel for Toyota, defending an array of unintended acceleration class-action and personal injury actions that included dismissal decisions in 14 countries. The automaker also dealt with congressional inquiries, regulatory scrutiny and securities litigation. Gilford now serves on Sidley’s Diversity Committee for its greater Los Angeles office and its California Consumer Privacy Act litigation task force. She has a BA from Furman University, a JD from USC’s Gould School of Law and an LLM from Georgetown University Law Center.
