Dennis Organ — Smithfield Foods Inc.
President and Chief Executive
THE LATEST:
Organ succeeded Kenneth Sullivan, a former LA500 member who announced his retirement in October 2020. Since taking the helm at Smithfield Foods, a Virginia-based pork processor and hog producer with substantial operations in Vernon, Organ has appointed seven members of his C-suite, including Brady Stewart as chief manufacturing officer, Russ Dokken as chief sales officer, Shane Smith as chief strategy officer and Keira Lombardo as chief administrative officer.
BACKGROUND:
Organ joined Smithfield in 2010. He was named chief operating officer for U.S. operations in 2019, overseeing day-to-day operations of the domestic business, including more than 40,000 employees in 32 states. Prior to Smithfield, Organ spent five years at Sherwood Food Distributors in Detroit, two at SpartanNash, a grocery distributor in Grand Rapids, Mich., and three at Nash Finch Co., a Minnesota-based wholesale food distributor. He received an MBA from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2011 and a BS in business administration from Saginaw Valley State University in 1993.
