Henrik Fisker — Fisker Inc.
Founder, President and Chief Executive
THE LATEST:
The past year was a big one for Fisker. The electric vehicle maker moved into new headquarters in Manhattan Beach, and in October the company’s shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange, with a market cap of about $3 billion. Fisker’s first vehicle, the Ocean electric SUV, will be produced by Canadian company Magna International Inc., while the manufacturing contract for the company’s yet-to-be-named second car will go to Foxconn Technology Group in Taiwan. The company’s spending for 2021 will total about $450 million, including R&D expenses of approximately $195 million and $225 million in capital expenditures for tooling at supplier and manufacturing facilities.
BACKGROUND:
Born in Denmark, Fisker graduated from ArtCenter College of Design’s now-closed campus in Switzerland. He got his start at BMW in Munich, Germany, where he designed the Z8 roadster that James Bond drove in the “The World Is Not Enough.” His next gig was at Aston Martin, where his credits include DB9 and V8 Vantage. He launched Fisker Automotive in 2007 and brought to market the Fisker Karma, a luxury plug-in hybrid sports sedan. He resigned in 2013, and the company was later sold in a bankruptcy auction. Three years later he launched Fisker Inc. and started making all-electric vehicles.
