Tim Ellis — Relativity Space Inc.
Co-Founder and Chief Executive
THE LATEST:
Relativity Space hasn’t yet launched a rocket into space, but the company’s ambitious plans to construct entirely 3D-printed launch vehicles have made it one of the hottest startups in the aerospace industry. The company moved into a huge new facility in Long Beach last year and in November announced that it had raised $500 million in new funding. Already, Relativity has numerous launch contracts and plans to send up its first rocket later this year.
BACKGROUND:
Ellis co-founded Relativity with Jordan Noone in 2016. Prior to that, he worked as a propulsion development engineer at Blue Origin, overseeing the rocket manufacturer’s 3D-printing operations. In 2018, Ellis was named to the National Space Council Users Advisory Group. The following year Relativity became one of 56 companies designated as technology pioneers by the World Economic Forum. Ellis received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from USC.
