THE LATEST:
In March, ViacomCBS launched its latest streaming service, Paramount Plus, to replace CBS All Access. Revenue for the company’s streaming business grew 49% in fiscal 2020 to $2.56 billion compared to $1.7 billion the previous year. Total subscribers to the company’s streaming platforms increased 56% year over year to 30 million. Overall revenue for ViacomCBS fell 10% for the year.
BACKGROUND:
Veteran Showtime executive Nevins took on additional duties at CBS in 2018 when he was named chief creative officer for the broadcast network. He became responsible for programming, marketing and research across CBS Studios, the CBS Television Network’s Entertainment division, and programming for CBS All Access, which has since been transformed into Paramount Plus. In 2010, Nevins joined Showtime and helped launch series such as “Homeland,” “Billions” and “Ray Donovan.” Previously, he spent eight years as president of Imagine Television, where he shepherded “Arrested Development” and “Friday Night Lights” as an executive producer.
