Jim Gianopulos — Paramount Studios
Chief Executive and Chairman
THE LATEST:
Paramount Studios joined the streaming wars in March with the launch of Paramount Plus. To bolster the platform’s offerings, Paramount parent ViacomCBS overhauled its film release strategy, drastically reducing the amount of time films spend in theaters before they become available for home entertainment. The company will now release movies to streamers between 30 and 45 days after they hit theaters.
BACKGROUND:
Hollywood veteran Gianopulos replaced Brad Grey as Paramount CEO in 2017, one year after the studio posted a $445 million annual loss. Gianopulos got his start at Paramount and Lorimar before moving to Fox, where he oversaw hits such as “Avatar” and “Deadpool.” He serves on the boards of the Motion Picture & Television Fund, USC Cinematic Arts and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
