THE LATEST: Iger plans to step down from his position at the end of 2021, announcing at the March Investors Day presentation it would be his last time attending. He will be an honoree at the opening gala for the Academy Museum Of Motion Pictures in September.
BACKGROUND: A longtime Disney exec, Iger oversaw several major acquisitions during his tenure as chairman and chief executive, including deals for Pixar, Marvel Entertainment and Lucasfilm. Iger began his career at ABC in 1974, rising through the ranks at Capital Cities/ABC Inc., which was acquired by Disney in 1996. He is married to veteran journalist Willow Bay, who serves as dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
