Shonda Rhimes — Shondaland

THE LATEST:
Rhimes produced the historical fiction series “Bridgerton,” which debuted in December on Netflix Inc. It quickly became the most-watched series on the streaming service with a viewership of 82 million households. The show held the No. 1 slot on Netflix in 76 countries and was renewed for a second season one month after its debut. Netflix also announced plans for a “Bridgerton” spinoff series that will be written by Rhimes.
BACKGROUND:
Producer, screenwriter and author Rhimes helped create hit shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” and “How to Get Away with Murder.” She was named one of Time magazine’s 100 People Who Help Shape the World in 2007, and in 2015, she published a memoir titled “Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand in the Sun, and Be Your Own Person.” In 2017, she signed a $100 million deal with Netflix to create programming for the platform. Rhimes founded her production company, Shondaland, in 2005. She attended Dartmouth College for her bachelor’s degree and obtained an MFA in screenwriting from USC.
