David Nagel — Decron Properties Corp.
Chief Executive and President
THE LATEST:
Since becoming chief executive in 1988, Nagel has grown the company significantly. Decron’s portfolio grew from 10 buildings with a $200 million valuation to a company with $3.5 billion of assets under management. The company owns and operates more than 55 communities in California and Washington, including 8,000 multifamily units. In the last 10 years, Decron has moved more heavily into multifamily assets, which now make up 85% of its portfolio. The company has also grown to 325 associates.
BACKGROUND:
Nagel’s father, Holocaust survivor Jack Nagel, founded Nagel Construction Co. in 1952. The company eventually became Decron Properties and is still family-owned. Nagel serves as president and chairman of Yeshiva University High School of Los Angeles and has served on several other nonprofit boards. Nagel holds an MBA from USC and a bachelor’s degree from New York University.
