Jerry West — Los Angeles Clippers
Consultant
THE LATEST:
A power player who operates far from the spotlight, West’s recent contributions to the Clippers included helping the team make the difficult choice to replace head coach Doc Rivers with Tyronn Lue. He also played a key role in the Clippers’ signing of five-time All-NBA player Paul George to a multiyear contract extension.
BACKGROUND:
The 82-year-old Basketball Hall of Famer joined the Clippers as a special adviser in 2017. West was a 14-time All-Star in the 1960s and 1970s with the Lakers, where he also served as coach, general manager and executive vice president of basketball operations. West built the Lakers’ “Showtime” teams of the 1980s, then combined Kobe Bryant with Shaquille O’Neal to secure more championships in the 2000s. A two-time NBA Executive of the Year, West has eight titles on his resume as an executive, including championships in 2015 and 2017 with the Golden State Warriors.
