The co-founder of media empire Springhill Entertainment, James continues to focus on producing compelling TV, film and video content with social justice themes. In March, he became a partner of Fenway Sports Group, which owns the MLB’s Boston Red Sox, Liverpool soccer team and a NASCAR team. “My goal is to own an NBA franchise,” he said. “It’ll be sooner than later.”
BACKGROUND: The 36-year-old James has now spent half his life as an NBA player. He was drafted in 2003 at age 18 as the first overall pick by his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers. The four-time NBA champion and 17-time All Star came to the Lakers in 2018 as a free agent, signing a four-year, $154 million deal.
