THE LATEST: Many of Mucker Capital’s early portfolio companies have grown into prominent tech industry players, and the company continues to play a role in the businesses accelerated through MuckerLab. In the last year, Mucker participated as a follow-on investor in funding rounds supporting local companies LeaseLock Inc., Replicated Inc. and Bambee Inc.
BACKGROUND: Rannala and William Hsu launched Mucker Capital in 2011, when few other firms were focused on funding and accelerating early stage startups in the Los Angeles area. Since then, the firm has built an impressive portfolio that includes some of Los Angeles’ most prominent tech companies. Those companies have cumulatively raised more than $8 billion. Prior to starting Mucker Capital, Rannala served as a group manager at eBay Inc., a vice president at TripAdvisor Inc. and a seed investor at Harrison Metal Capital. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and an MBA from Duke University.
