THE LATEST: In 2020, Apple tapped Schusser to run Beats Electronics, the popular headphone manufacturer acquired by Apple in 2014. At the same time, Schusser continues to oversee Apple Music. The streaming service, launched by Apple in 2015, expanded into 52 new countries in April. Apple’s app store and podcasts platform rolled out in 20 new countries at the same time.
BACKGROUND: Schusser has been with Apple since the iPod’s earliest days. For 15 years he was vice president of iTunes International at Apple’s London office prior to his 2018 promotion to Apple Music. In his previous role, Schusser managed Apple’s international content programs, including the App Store, iTunes Movies and TV, iBooks and Apple Podcasts. Prior to Apple, Schusser worked with Vodafone Group, Napster Inc. and Bertelsmann. Schusser holds an MBA from the University of Birmingham and a PhD in media economics from the University of Cologne.
